Super League Cup Game

Sheppey played Sittingbourne on Wednesday to try to progress to the semi-finals in the super league team cup event.

First to play was Pat Scurfield who won 3-0 with a mind blowing average of 32.67 hitting six tons, two 140s and a maximum 180 along the way.  Next to play was Lionel Watson who also won 3-0 with a 21.78 average and five tons, a good start but could Sheppey keep it up?

Third to play was Mark Leg unfortunately Leg drew Steve Douglas who had just returned from the televised world championships.  Leg lost 0-3 with a 26.60 average with seven tons and a 140. This would have won most games but not against an on form Douglas.  Our next player Ryan Hope also played well with a 25.44 average, nine tons and a 140 but still not good enough he lost 2-3.

Darren Bootes lost the next game 1-3 with a 23.41 average and seven tons.  Chris Collins lost the next game 2-3 with a 21-00 average, four tons and two 140s.  Steve March played another of Sittingbourne's players who travels the dart circuit Pete Mitchell so once again we were up against it.  March lost 1-3 with a 21.60 average, one ton two 140s and a maximum 180.  Sheppey had now lost the match and the chance to progress to the next round so we could only save a bit of pride with our last two players, Paul McDine and Jamie Whibley.  McDine won 3-0 with a 23.12 average, three tons and three 140s.  Whibley was playing his first game for Sheppey and nerves showed a little although he had no pressure as the match was already lost.  Whibley lost 0-3 with only a 18.30 average and two tons.

A disappointing night for Sheppey losing 6-3 with a respectable team average of 23.30 but it was a great night of darts.
